Overview:

HeadCount is a nonpartisan organization that uses the power of music to register voters and promote participation in democracy nationwide. HeadCount reaches music fans where they already are – at concerts, festivals, community events and online – to inform, organize and empower.

Since 2004, HeadCount has registered over 1,000,000 voters by staging nonpartisan voter drives at over 1,000 live events per year through digital campaigns that have won Clio and SHORTY awards. Artists such as Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Dave Matthews, Billie Eilish and Dead & Co. have partnered with HeadCount, as have social impact brands and entertainment leaders.

HeadCount seeks an experienced Vice President of Operations (VPO) to oversee the internal business processes and infrastructure of the 20+ person team including finance, office administration, project planning, risk management, and partner engagement. The VPO will collaborate and work closely with the Executive Director in strategic and operational planning to enhance organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have experience in change management and will be comfortable in an evolving environment with the ability to adapt, problem solve, and lead.

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $110,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership, oversight and responsibilities with significant projects, partners, and new projects in the organization
  • Support and advise the Executive Director on decision making, organizational change, operations and new project development
  • Oversee project management and institute organization-wide systems that bring consistency and accountability to all programmatic work
  • Manage organizational budgeting and finance (working with a controller): budget reconciliation, audit, financial analysis and review, reporting to the Board and all related finance-related activity
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal legal requirements
  • Oversee risk management and legal activities including letters of agreement, contracts, leases, and other legal documents and agreements as needed
  • Oversee office management and related administrative functions ensuring smooth daily operations of physical space, equipment, and procurement
  • Streamline internal operations including reporting structures, team goals, daily standup meetings, and organizing of staff calls
  • Engage and cultivate new and existing partners in mission and strategic goals
  • Provide leadership and expertise in organizational growth, strategic direction and process alignment
  • Serve as a mentor and manager to the administrative associate
  • Provide general support and management for departments and initiatives
  • Oversee consulting and contractors for organization/office administration

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of finance/operations or management experience preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Excellent process and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to work well with peers, staff, partners and the Board of Directors
  • Exhibits good-judgment and quick-thinking with a results-oriented approach to work and management
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • Appreciation and understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Strategic problem-solving approach
  • Comfortable in a “start-up,” and creative environment
  • Desire to learn and grow within the organization
