Overview

JUF amplifies the collective strength of the Jewish community to make the world a  better place. JUF provides critical resources that bring food, refuge, health care, education and emergency assistance to 500,000 Chicagoans of all faiths and 2  million Jews in Israel and around the world, funding a network of nearly 70 agencies  and programs.

The JUF Professionals Network (JPN) is the largest, most diverse network of Jewish  professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners in Chicago, providing access to high-level business leaders through relevant professional programming and  networking opportunities.

JUF seeks a creative, dynamic, and talented leader to serve as the Director of the JUF Professionals Network who will be responsible for the administration and management of JPN. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President, Campaign,  the JPN Director will work in coordination with lay leadership and the JPN team to develop a vision for the department with a focus on face-to-face engagement and  solicitations, increasing fundraising dollars, and leadership development. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 6 years of proven fundraising experience preferably  in a Jewish communal environment, impeccable relationship building skills, a strong ability to lead and manage a small team, and a desire to make an impact on the Jewish community in Chicago and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the JPN and the department’s collaboration within the larger campaign structure
  • Immerse yourself in all industries of the Chicago Jewish business community to identify donor prospects and steward existing relationships
  • Create long term strategies with industry leaders to cultivate their networks for engagement and fundraising efforts
  • Develop and implement a variety of programs, annual dinners and initiatives geared toward fundraising, outreach, and leadership development
  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit a portfolio of donors and maximize all development opportunities through ongoing events and individualized approaches
  • Oversee the JUF Corporate Partnership Program with an eye towards the growth and cultivation of lay leadership
  • Supervise a team of two, including an Assistant Director and Donor Officer
  • Support JUF campaign integration on an ongoing basis in addition to campaign-related activities
  • Lead, manage, and inspire staff to ensure the overall success of the department by clearly communicating goals, vision, and job expectations, and fostering
    continued professional development

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 6+ years of fundraising experience
    including 2+ years direct solicitation experience
  • Proven ability to secure gifts of $5,000+
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely creative, highly-organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational management skills
    with the ability to motivate staff and lead teams
  • Event planning skills; comfortable
    coordinating logistics, schedules, and managing volunteers
  • Project management expertise with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Expertise with business technology including Microsoft Office Suite and major social media channels
  • Knowledge of and experience working with donor databases/CRM systems; Salesforce experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Jewish community, culture and traditions strongly preferred
  • Commitment to and desire to grow the Chicagoland Jewish community
