Zero Abuse Project seeks an experienced and dedicated development professional to lead their national fundraising strategy. The Chief Advancement Officer, in close collaboration with the CEO, will spearhead sustainable fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include engaging major, individual, and institutional donors, managing events, digital campaigns, and fostering diversity and inclusion in all initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate autonomy, a track record of successful fundraising, and the ability to work effectively within a small, agile team.

Compensation Range

$130K - $145K

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and Zero Abuse Project staff to develop comprehensive fundraising plans and set achievable targets for donations
  • Proactively expand the $5.2M organization's donor base (Keela) by establishing and nurturing relationships with major contributors to cultivate a diverse range of supporters
  • Oversee the management of donor infrastructure, conduct thorough research to identify potential major donors, and strategically execute direct mail and e-solicitation initiatives to maximize fundraising efforts
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of engaging events, including virtual gatherings, to foster donor participation and strengthen community connections
  • Provide effective task supervision for potential future program assistants, manage the donor database, and generate comprehensive fundraising reports to monitor progress and inform decision-making
  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities, maintain a grants schedule, and nurture ongoing partnerships to sustain long-term support for the organization's mission
  • Ensure strict compliance with legal and organizational donation policies, while crafting compelling impact reports to showcase donor contributions
  • Engage and inspire the board of directors to serve as ambassadors for Zero Abuse Project and play an expanding role in development

Qualifications & Skills

  • 6+ years’ fundraising experience, including major gift solicitation 
  • Strong alignment with the organization's mission to combat child abuse, showcasing genuine passion and commitment
  • Proven track record in developing and executing development strategies for mission-driven organizations
  • Extensive experience in leading various fundraising efforts, including digital and direct mail
  • Skilled in crafting comprehensive organizational communications plans to support fundraising objectives 
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, adept at engaging diverse audiences such as corporations, foundations, and individual donors
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated with a passion for creating and implementing innovative initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of business technology, including donor database systems
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize tasks effectively, while working towards multiple fundraising goals
